The LickiMat has become one of my favorite products. I use this product when I am trimming nails. This does help with reducing stress and anxiety. I do recommend this product.
If a dog becomes too excited when the leash comes out, I will toss this to the floor. and the dog calm down before putting on the leash. Licking releases endorphins which helps to calm the dog.
When I take a dog to the veterinarian, I always take in treats with me. I do everything I can to help build a positive association in the setting. This can be tossed to the floor to help the dog also. During a visit I take every opportunity I can to help build a positive association. I have trained many rescue dogs I have no idea what they have experienced in the past. I’ve learned to work with the dog in front of me. Taking notes on what did work and what did not work. Stress is very real.
These can also be used in cars when dogs struggle. Plan ahead for the ride, you can always put a blanket in the seat of the car. I know many people use safety belts to keep the dog secure. This can be placed on the blanket and keep the dog entertained. This can also be quickly tossed to the floorboard. If you have stopped somewhere and the dog is becoming reactive barking at people and other animals.
During crate training I always use games of tossing treats and allowing the dog to come in and out of the crate. I will toss this into the crate and let the dog enjoy it in there.
I have found so many uses for this product. My two favorite products are the Kong and the LickiMat.
Dogs do need help and it’s up to us to provide training and help for them.
